General Information

ZTV Fug-StB 01 "Zusätzliche Technische Vertragsbedingungen und Richtlinien für Fugen in Verkehrsflächen" (German Additional Technical Contractual Conditions and Directives for Joints in Traffic Surfaces) were officially introduced in 2002 and since that date they must be complied with. ZTV Fug-StB 01 and the accompanying TL Fug-StB 01 "Technische Lieferbedingungen für Fugenfüllstoffe in Verkehrsflächen" (Technical Terms of Delivery for Filler Materials in Traffic Surfaces) and TP Fug-StB 01 "Technische Prüfbedingungen für Fugenfüllstoffe in Verkehrsflächen" (Technical Test Provisions for Filler Materials in Traffic Surfaces) cover compounds used for joints to rails. These compounds must have special qualities and meet very high demands. On the one hand, they are to remain stable at high temperatures and on the other be elastic at low temperatures. It is very difficult - almost impossible - to meet both these opposing requirements. The products are manufactured with the qualities required and tested according to the demands that are to be expected. This is why, for application to rails, joints in paving etc., only those products may be used that are appropriate and have had their suitability demonstrated. REINAU® rail joint sealant  has been tested according to these requirements and meets all the demands set. This means that the material can be used for rails.
As with all products regulated by ZTV Fug-StB 01, rail joint sealant compounds must have a certificate to show that they have passed the suitability test in accordance with TL Fug-StB 01. The test proves that the products are appropriate for rail use.
Compliance with the test demands is documented by a statement of compliance, which must be made on the packaging of the joint compounds and the primers.
